VICTORVILLE – A female pedestrian lost her life after being struck by a vehicle while walking in the area of Village Drive and Vasquez Avenue in the City of Victorville. The collision occurred early Friday morning at 4:17 a.m. Deputies from the Victorville Station and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene of the vehicle versus pedestrian collision just north of Vasquez Avenue.
When they arrived they located a gold GMC Sierra 2500 pickup truck and a woman lying on the roadway. The Victorville City Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) collected evidence and witness statements at the scene and the investigation is ongoing. Preliminary investigation revealed that the GMC was driving south on Village Drive and the woman who was wearing dark clothing, was walking south in the #1 southbound land of Village Drive. The driver saw the pedestrian and attempted to stop and swerve to avoid the collision, but it was too late and the pedestrian was struck by the vehicle. The pedestrian died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver of the GMC did not suffer any injuries as a result of the collision. The driver of the GMC remained at the scene throughout the investigation.
The collision caused closure and a diversion to the bus routes on Village Drive, south of Clovis Street and north of Llanda Avenue until around 10:30 a.m. Anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Deputy A. Hylin or Deputy A. Ramos at the Victorville Police Station.
