RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A fire which was first reported late Tuesday morning continues to stall traffic with a SIG Alert being issued at around 10:26 a.m.
The blaze reportedly began burning near the 210 west and I-15 south connector and continues burning as of Tuesday afternoon. The fire jumped from one side of the freeway to the other within just minutes. The connector from the I-15 south to the 210 west was immediately shut down due to visibility concerns and so that firefighters could respond to the fire.
Traffic was diverted at Deep Creek. The Deep Creek onramp to the I-15 was also closed to traffic. The 15 freeway north is also reportedly closed at Foothill Boulevard. In addition to the I-15 and the 210/15 interchange closure, the 210 freeway was closed in both directions from Archibald Avenue to the I-15.
High winds and temperatures, coupled with low humidity are hampering the efforts of firefighters who have responded from multiple agencies. Water dropping helicopters are at the scene as well as numerous firefighters on the ground.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, information will be updated as it becomes available.
