Five Young Victorville Residents Arrested for Robbing Grocery Store

CLAREMONT – Five Victorville residents, ages 16 to 20-years-old were arrested for a robbery where they assaulted a special needs courtesy clerk at a Claremont grocery store.

The three suspects, Selena Montez, 20, Stevie Montez, 18, Candace Sykes, 19, Ryan Anderson, 18, and an unnamed 16-year-old female were arrested for Robbery, Conspiracy, Burglary, Abuse of a Dependent Adult, as well as gang enhancements the news release said. The incident occurred on Friday, June 23, 2017, at around 4:20 p.m. at the Vons Store located at 550 East Baseline Road in the City of Claremont.  The five suspects stole several cases of bottled water and two bottles of brandy, from the store.

The five suspects then got into a burgundy 2015 Dodge Caravan. The courtesy clerk yelled out demanding that they stop, one of the suspects exited the vehicle,  punched the employee in the mouth, and returned to the vehicle. The five fled the scene with approximately $150 in stolen water and brandy. The license plate was captured by a witness who relayed it to responding police officers. The suspects were all located in the City of Victorville.

Selena and Stevie Montez, Sykes, and Anderson are all being held on $50,000 bail, while the juvenile suspect was released to family pending her court date.
