FONTANA – A surprising pair was found roaming the streets near Palmetto and Randall Avenues on Tuesday. As children were walking to school in the morning they were tickled by what they saw, a piglet and a large pit bull relaxing in the front yard of a home.
The piglet and the pit bull obviously knew each other, and it was quite apparent that they were best of friends. Animal control was called to the scene and was able to determine that “Apollo”, the pit bull had a microchip which helped identify his and “Grizzly”, the piglet’s owners. The owner was extremely happy to hear that the pair was found safe and she said that the two are inseparable. She said that the pair shares a bowl to eat out of, they sleep in the same doggy bed, they play together, and even swim together.
Catching Apollo was easy for Animal Service Officers, but catching Grizzly was quite a task. Animal Control officers would like to remind the community of the importance of microchips, saying that even piglets can be microchipped.
