FONTANA – The suspect allegedly involved in the armed robbery of the Payless ShoeSource in Fontana was arrested on Thursday after a brief pursuit and crash. At around 1:40 p.m. Fontana Police responded to a silent robbery alarm at the store in the 17100 block of Foothill Boulevard.
Officer quickly arrived and confirmed there was in fact, a robbery that had just occurred. The suspect reportedly fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash. Responding officers spotted the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a felony traffic stop. William Delano failed to stop and continued on for several blocks before crashing into two vehicles on Foothill Boulevard and Cedar Avenue in the City of Rialto.
Delano was taken into custody at the scene and was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for minor injuries he sustained as a result of the crash. No other injuries were reported as a result of the crash. Delano was released from the hospital and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Robbery.
