FONTANA, Ca. – A pursuit left one person dead and two suffering from major injuries on Wednesday, authorities said.
At around 12:05 p.m. Fontana police were involved in the pursuit related to an undisclosed criminal investigation. The suspect vehicle led officers through Fontana, Rialto, and Rancho Cucamonga. The sheriff’s helicopter assisted in the pursuit. At around 12:15 p.m. the suspect vehicle exited the 210 freeway at the Beech Avenue exit and failed to stop at the intersection, The vehicle collided with an uninvolved vehicle leaving the occupants severely injured, leading to the death of one. The suspect and the other occupant of the uninvolved vehicle were rushed to hospital for treatment. The current condition is unknown.
The San Bernardino Major Accident Investigation Unit is assisting in the investigation into the collision. Beech Avenue from Sierra Lakes Parkway were closed for several hours for the investigation.
