COVINA, Calif. – A Baldwin Park man who was the former pastor of a Glendale church was sentenced to 6 years in prison for the sexual assault of a young girl.
On February 7, 2018, Douglas Rivera drove to the Vanllee Hotel and Suites in the 1200 block of East Garvey Street in the City of Covina. The girl was staying at the hotel while visiting from China. He parked his vehicle near the front of a room where two girls were staying. Then, according to District Attorney’s officials, he walked into the room that was not his and inappropriately touched one of the two girls.
Rivera, the former pastor of God’s Gypsy Christian Church pleaded no contest to one felony count of lewd act upon a child on Monday, June 10, 2019. He was immediately sentenced to six years in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
