29 PALMS– Four suspects were arrested after a fight at the Break and Run Bar in 29 Palms led to shots being fired. On Sunday, October 9, 2016, at around 1:30 a.m. deputies from the Morongo Basin responded to the call reporting a fight. While en route to the location additional information was provided to dispatchers by witnesses at the scene. The witness told the dispatcher that four black men got into a late model 4-door silver sedan and as they were leaving held a gun outside of the window and fired 4-5 rounds into the air. Several people in the parking lot at the time of this gunfire.
The suspects, according to witness statements, went east onto Twentynine Palms Highway. A deputy spotted a vehicle that matched the description traveling eastbound on Twenty Palms Highway. The vehicle pulled into Denny’s restaurant where the deputy made a felony traffic stop. The deputy made contact with the occupants, which matched the suspect description. All four occupants were detained pending further investigation.
Two semi-automatic handguns were found in the passenger areas of the car and other evidence was also located at the scene. All 29 Palms Marine Corp Base residents, Michael A. Jolly, 24, Corderous A Mahone, 26, Richard Harris, 26, and Craig Chapman, 25 were taken into custody and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail. Jolly was booked for negligent discharge of a firearm and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. The driver, Harris and the remaining passengers, Mahone and Chapman were arrested for being accessory to a felony and are being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.
