HIGHLAND – A male victim, who had just escaped a kidnapping and assault ran down the street and spotted a school police officer near Indian Springs High School. He flagged down and the police officer stopped to assist the severely beaten man who suffered multiple facial injuries and had his upper body covered in blood.
The school police called Central Station deputies, who arrived and assumed the investigation. The male victim told the deputies what had occurred and was able to provide the locations of the incident and the subjects involved. The victim told police that he was initially beaten in an abandoned home in the 1100 block of N. 6th Street in the City of Redlands by Redlands resident, 35-year-old Ruben Hernandez and 46-year-old Muscoy resident, Bernardino Calderon.
The victim was then taken to a home on the 7700 block of Del Rosa Avenue in the City of Highland where he was held against his will by 27-year-old Redlands resident Felix Velasquez and 32-year-old Highland resident Brandy Trujillo. The report was investigated and the three were booked on charges of kidnapping, assault with great bodily injury, false imprisonment, and conspiracy.
Deputies found that Hernandez was on active felony probation for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Calderon is on Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for evading law enforcement. Velasquez is on active parole for Burglary.
