VICTORVILLE – High Desert residents are invited to a free shred-fest, mulch giveaway, and recycling event at the Victor Valley Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). The event will be on Saturday, May 5, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the MRF located at 17000 Abbey Lane in the City of Victorville, just off of Stoddard Wells Road.
Have important documents to destroy? Residents will be able to shred up to four banker boxes of documents that need shredding for absolutely no charge. “All Purpose Document Destruction will have a truck on site, so residents can watch their documents get shredded,” Victorville city officials said in a news release. Free mulch and compost will be given away, as part of a self-serve giveaway. Bring your own shovels and containers, load up to 50 gallons of mulch and take it home for no charge.
Got E-waste or appliances to dispose of? Bring your TVs, Computers, Appliances, Scrap Metal, and E-Waste. Like previous events, there will be plenty of great benefits of attending, with the addition of free mattress and box spring recycling at this event. Bring your Twin, full, queen, and king mattresses and box springs can be dropped off for free by residents. This is for residents only, not for businesses. Also, no furniture, futons, sleeper beds, or infant mattresses will be permitted.
Everything is free and if you are one of the first 200 visitors, you will receive a reusable shopping bag. Residents can also visit the MRF’s buyback center to redeem CRV bottles and cans for cash. The Victor Valley MRF serves as the processing center for recyclables from Apple Valley and Victorville’s curbside and commercial/business recycling programs. The MRF is also a buyback and drop-off recycling center open to the public and businesses.
It is regularly open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event is sponsored by Burrtec Waste Industries and the City of Victorville.
