SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – A Hemet man was arrested for prowling in the City of San Bernardino authorities said.
On Monday, May 13, 2019, at around 4:15 p.m. deputies from the Central Station responded to the 6000 block of Glasgow Avenue for the report of a prowler. The reporting party said that the male suspect was hiding in bushes next to her bedroom window. The deputy arrived shortly after and noticed Steve Carl Quiroz, 58, hiding in the bushes at the home. The deputy attempted to make contact with the suspect but he fled on foot and was apprehended shortly after.
Through investigation, it was learned that the victim did not know the suspect, who was learned to have an active no-bail warrant for his arrest. He was found to be in possession of a fixed-blade knife, which was concealed on his body, along with illegal drugs. Quiroz was arrested and booked at the Central Detention Center and is being held without bail.
It is believed Quiroz may have been in the area peeping and prowling at other residences. We urge the public to call or text law enforcement if they see suspicious activity. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Central Station at (909) 387-3545.
