Hesperia Double Murder Suspect Found Dead on I-15 in Nevada

HESPERIA – A 50-year-old Barstow man took his own life after killing two Hesperia men officials said.

On Saturday, October 13, 2018, at around 9:00 p.m. deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to the report of a shooting in the 11500 block of Hesperia Road in the City of Hesperia. When they arrived they located a 33-year-old man outside of an apartment, he was later identified as Travon Holiday, deceased as a result of a gunshot wound. The deputies then located a second victim, 59-year-old Anthony Gossett who had also been shot. Gossett was rushed to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted to Arrowhead Medical Center, where despite lifesaving measures being taken, he died as a result of his injuries.   

Through investigation, Leslie “Lee” Wienke was identified as the suspect involved in the double murder. Wienke’s name was entered into the nationwide system as a murder suspect. On Thursday, October 18, 2018, a Nevada Department of Public Safety Officer located a parked vehicle on the I-15, around 90 miles north of Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon inspection of the vehicle, Wienke was found deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Las Vegas Metro Police assumed the investigation.
