VICTORVILLE – The Hesperia man who was arrested for elder abuse on Thursday, February 15, 2018, pleaded no contest on Monday.
Joseph Grillo, 58, was sentenced to 22 days in the county jail which he was credited for 11 days of time served. In addition, Grillo was also ordered to a year of anger management classes, AA/NA meetings, and 36 months of summary probation for causing or permitting injury to elder or dependent adult. The misdemeanor case stemmed from the report from the elderly woman who Grillo was responsible to care for by assisting her with her daily duties.
The woman reported that Grillo began allowing other unknown people to live at her home, where he also lived. According to sheriff’s officials, Grillo stopped caring for the victim leading to the call from the fearful woman.
This is Grillo’s second accusation of causing or permitting injury to elder or dependent adult, the first being in December 2014. Grillo accepted a plea deal pleading guilty of criminal threats, dropping the causing or permitting injury to elder or dependent adult charge. Grillo’s 3-year summary probation for the December 2014 case ended in December 2017.
