APPLE VALLEY – A suspect who allegedly attacked and robbed an Apple Valley resident who was attempting to help another subject was arrested on Friday, November 3, 2017.
The incident was reported on Friday, October 27, 2017, the victim reported that at around 11:50 p.m. when an unknown person knocked on his door saying that people were chasing him. The resident let the subject in his home in the 13000 block of Mohawk Road and the subject left out the back of the home. The resident remained inside the home until he noticed a vehicle parked in his driveway. He went out to see why the occupied vehicle was out there and the occupants inside said that they were there to collect money from the person he had let into his home.He told them the subject left the home out of the back. The suspect then attacked the male victim with a flashlight and a bat. They stole property from the victim and left the home.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Station arrived to process the scene and were able to recover some evidence left behind by the suspects. DNA analysis identified Dustin Ellis, 22, of Hesperia as one of the suspects involved in the incident. Ellis was located at his Hesperia home and was arrested for Residential Robbery. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
