HESPERIA, Calif. – A Hesperia man was arrested after breaking into a vacant home and attempting to steal multiple items authorities said.
On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at around 3:43 p.m. deputies from the Hesperia station responded to the report of two males breaking into a vacant home in the 11400 block of Hickory Avenue. When they arrived they found two men who matched the description of the suspects standing near the home with a large amount of property. Both suspects spotted the deputies and fled on foot through a nearby alleyway. Deputies were able to detain 25-year-old Michael McDonald. The second suspect remains outstanding sheriff officials said.
“The residence that was broken into was found to have an open back door,” said Hesperia Sheriff Station Spokesman Edgar Moran. “The owner of the residence responded and confirmed the property McDonald had was inside of the residence and McDonald did not have permission to go inside of the property nor take the items.”
McDonald was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Burglary. He is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. He was also found to be on Post Release Community Supervision. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on April 18, 2019.
