HESPERIA – A 58-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for elder abuse on Thursday afternoon.
At around 2:50 p.m. deputies responded to the 9300 block of Eighth Avenue in the City of Hesperia for the report of elder abuse by an 89-year-old who became in fear of her family member and caretaker, Joseph Grillo. Hesperia Spokeswoman, Jaclyn Chambers said that Grillo was living with the elderly woman, who depended on him to assist her with daily duties.
“Joseph reportedly started to allow unknown subjects live at the location and stopped caring for the victim properly,” said Chambers. The victim reported the situation when she became concerned about the discontinued care and his behavior. Grillo was taken into custody for elder abuse. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center and is being held in lieu of $75,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday, February 26th.
