ADELANTO – A 28-year-old Hesperia man was arrested Wednesday night after forcing a female victim into a vehicle with him after a family disturbance in Adelanto.
At approximately 10:45 p.m. a deputy from the Victor Valley station responded to the Adelanto apartment complex. When he arrived he made contact with a witness who told him that the suspect, Raymond Espinoza and the woman were involved in a verbal altercation in the parking lot. The witness then said that Espinoza pulled out a knife, forced the woman into the vehicle, and drove away.
Investigations into the incident led deputies to a Chevron Station in the West Cajon Valley at Highway 138 and the I-15 at around 4:00 a.m. on Thursday. The vehicle, which was determined to be stolen two days earlier in Fontana, and the involved parties were location. Deputies made contact with the female victim who was unharmed. The vehicle which did not appear to be damaged was returned to the owner.
Espinoza was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for kidnapping, possession of a stolen vehicle, and a probation violation for a previous unrelated vehicle theft. Espinoza is scheduled to appear at the Victorville Superior Court on Monday evening.
