HESPERIA, Calif. – A man was arrested after finding his roommate in the bed with a man on Sunday morning.
Gilberto Lopez, 42, of Hesperia, was arrested at around 4:00 a.m., on Sunday, for assault with a deadly weapon. Deputies from the Hesperia station responded to the 11900 block of Seventh Avenue, for the report of a woman being attacked by her roommate.
When deputies arrived, they learned that the female victim moved into her roommate’s home two months prior to the incident. When she moved in, Lopez explained to the victim that he did not want anyone inside his home unless he knew because his juvenile daughter lived at the home. “Lopez wanted to speak with the victim, but the victim told Lopez she was tired and did not wish to speak,” said Hesperia Sheriff’s Station spokesman Edgar Moran. “Lopez then broke the door into victims room and grabbed a plastic floor fan to see if anyone was in the bed with the victim; as Lopez did this he struck the victim on the left arm causing scratches and redness.”
He found a man in the bed with her and went to the kitchen briefly and returned to the room with two knives. The victim was in fear for her life. Lopez demanded that they both leave the home as he held the knives. Both left and the victim called 911 to report the incident. Lopez was arrested and booked at the High Desert Detention Center for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
