ADELANTO – Want to treat your family to a summer full of baseball fun? How about enjoying baseball fun only miles from home?
For the second year, the High Desert Yardbirds, a professional baseball team will be playing at the Adelanto Stadium; formerly Maverick’s Stadium and Heritage Field. Like last year, the season will be full of special activities starting with the pre-season scrimmage game against the Monterey Amberjacks on Saturday, May, 10th at 6:00 p.m. The season consists of 63 games; 35 home games, with the scrimmage being the only game starting at 6:00 p.m. The season will end on July 26th.
Want your kids to get up close and personal with the players? On Saturday, May 19th there will be a Kids Camp. This is for children of all ages, who are interested in learning more about playing baseball. “This will be a baseball-clinic type experience where kids have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the players, and they will be grouped depending on the age and experience level and given special instructions,” said Stadium Manager Aaron Korn. The Kids Campe will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will be approximately an hour-and-a-half to two hours for only $30. To register visit www.HighDesertYardbirds.com.
The season opens on Sunday, May 27th against the Bakersfield Train Robbers. Game tickets are $8, with children 6 and under being admitted free of charge. “We’re hoping that people will come out and support the Pecos League Champions and enjoy some fun baseball,” said Korn. On May 29th the team will have the ceremonial season opener versus the California City Whiptails. “The Adelanto Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a mixer before the ceremonial game,” said Korn.
Join in on the fun with Taco Tuesdays, Wienie Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, and Family Feast Fridays! To see the season schedule visit www.highdesertyardbirds.com or the calendar section of www.adelantostadium.com.
