LAKE ELSINORE, Calif. – A 19-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a hit and run driver on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at around 10:58 p.m.
Deputies from Lake Elsinore Station responded to the hit and run collision on the 19600 block of Palomar Road in Lake Elsinore. When they arrived they learned that Daniel Hernandez, of Lake Elsinore was on his skateboard near the westbound bicycle lane of Palomar Road. The vehicle was traveling westbound and struck Hernandez, slowed down, and then continued driving west on Palomar Road.
Hernandez was rushed to the Inland Valley Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries.
The Lake Elsinore Traffic Team is conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol/drugs will be a factor in this collision. Both directions of Palomar Road were closed for approximately 3 hours during the investigation.
