VICTORVILLE – A 35-year-old Victorville man was shot and killed in the 15800 block of Sitting Bull Street in the City of Victorville. On Wednesday evening at approximately 7:30 p.m. deputies from the Victorville station responded to the 15800 block of Sitting Bull Street for the report of a disturbance between two residents of the home. When deputies arrived just moments later they found that a shooting had occurred when they found Mark Maxwell with gunshot wounds. Maxwell was pronounced dead at the scene.
Through investigation, it was learned that there was an ongoing dispute between the two roommates, which
escalated over the period of several hours. Maxwell left the home and just before the shooting he returned to the home. The disturbance continued and escalated with Maxwell forcing his way into the home and a shooting occurred. Authorities said that the roommate was interviewed as well as witnesses. The roommate was released and the District Attorney’s office will review the investigation information. The identity of the roommate is not being disclosed at this time for his safety.
