RANCHO CUCAMONGA – Over 890 marijuana plants were located inside a Rancho Cucamonga home after a fire broke out on Sunday morning. At around 8:05 a.m. deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga station responded to the home located at, 9472 Cedar Glen Court in the City of Rancho Cucamonga.
As the firefighters were extinguishing the fire, some went into the home to make sure no one was inside and check for interior damage. When they went inside they located the hundreds of plants in several rooms of the home. The plants, over 890 in all were in various stages of growth. Deputies assisted in the investigation where an advanced lighting, air conditioning, fans, exhaust blowers, and an air filtering system to control the climate inside the house and control odor from exiting the home. It was also learned the suspects were stealing power.
No one was home at the time of the fire and the identity of the suspect(s) remains under investigation. The fire is believed to be caused by the unpermitted electrical wiring used to steal electricity. The suspect once identified will face charges of Cultivating Marijuana and Utility Theft. Additional charges against the suspects may include Unlawfully Causing a Fire of a Structure.
