BIG BEAR – Human remains were found in the Cougar Crest Trail in Big Bear on Saturday evening. Authorities said that at around 6:42 p.m. the hikers on the trail discovered the human skeletal remains a short distance off of the trail.
Deputies from the Big Bear Station responded to the location and confirmed the remains were in fact human. The following day Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Homicide Detail and Coroner’s Division responded to the scene to recover the remains. The identity and cause of death remain under investigation at this time.
