BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – The Kern County Bomb Squad is investigating a death related to the use of fireworks.
On Friday, June 7, 2019, at around 9:52 p.m., the Kern County Sheriff’s responded to the 400 block of Ray Street in the City of Bakersfield for the report of a firework injury. The male adult sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a local hospital. Despite attempts to preserve his life, he died as a result of his injuries.
The Bomb Squad responded to the scene and is investigating the incident. Investigators said the male subject was using illegal fireworks in an unsafe manner, which led to a detonation. The male subject has been identified as David Michael Adams, 45.
