LAKE ARROWHEAD – A 48-year-old Moreno Valley man sustained major injuries after falling into a rocky area while climbing in Aztec Falls on Sunday. At around noon the Sheriff’s helicopter and the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to a call reporting a fall victim.
When they arrived they located Jorge Sanchez who was too injured to walk in a remote location. The crew determined that a hoist rescue was required in order to gain access to Sanchez. An air medic was lowered into the canyon to assess Sanchez who was subsequently placed into a litter and hoisted into the helicopter.
Sanchez was flown to Loma Linda for the treatment of his injuries.
