APPLE VALLEY – A 27-year-old Victorville man was arrested for the Sunday evening armed robbery of the Jess Ranch Staples Store. At around 5:32 p.m., the suspect now identified as Joseph Soto, 27, walked into the Staples store located at 19201 Bear Valley Road and selected several items inside the store. He walked up to the register and brandished a firearm and ordered the cashier to give him a laptop computer. The cashier complied to his demands, and the suspect fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
Witnesses were able to provide detailed suspect information which helped lead authorities to the identification of Soto, a documented gang member. An arrest and search warrant were obtained and served at his Victorville home where he was arrested during the search warrant where stolen property was located. He was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for robbery and the gang allegation and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
