JOSHUA TREE – A 19-year-old Joshua Tree man was arrested after an armed robbery on Friday night. At around 8:50 p.m. deputies from the Morongo station responded to the Valero Gas Station located at 61794 Twentynine Palms Highway in Joshua Tree reference an armed robbery.
The suspect, later identified as Christian Sutalo approached the victim as he/she was pumping gas at the location. Armed with a handgun, Sutalo demanded money. The victim complied, in fear for his/her safety and Sutalo fled the scene on foot. Deputies located Sutalo in the 6600 block of Easterly Drive in Joshua Tree. Sutalo was arrested and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for armed robbery. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
