RIVERSIDE, Ca. – A 55-year-old transient was arrested after a string of robberies on Saturday evening.
Riverside Police officials said that on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at around 7:30 a.m. officers responded to a smoke shop in the 6600 block of Magnolia Avenue for the report of a robbery in progress. While en route they learned that there were two other robberies with the same suspect description at a Dairy Queen and Walgreens.
When officers arrived the suspect, later identified as John Brogdon, was located inside the smoke shop. Brogdon was detained without incident. Through investigation it was learned that the suspect entered the three businesses and gave the cashier a note. The note said that it was a robbery and he was demanding money. At the smoke shop he implied that he had a gun and demanded a sword in a display case behind the counter.
Brogdon was booked into jail for three counts of robbery and violation of parole and is being held without bail.
