Kentucky Parental Abduction Suspect Arrested in Riverside, Baby Located in Good Health

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – A Kentucky man who kidnapped his infant child was located and arrested in the City of Riverside.

On Thursday, June 20, 2019, the Riverside Police were made aware that the suspect wanted for parental kidnapping from Lexington, Kentucky was believed to be in the City of Riverside. Officers responded to the Sycamore Highlands neighborhood to search for the suspect vehicle. Antwon French, 34, of Kentucky, also known as Markell Moore reportedly abducted his 5-week-old daughter, Ammiyah Moore on May 17, 2019. French fled with his daughter in a gray Nissan Altima. A felony warrant for custodial interference was issued. French was also learned to have a felony warrant in Georgia for the possession of a sawed-off shotgun, authorities said.

At 5:00 p.m. the METRO Team began watching an apartment complex  located in the 5800 block of Lochmoor Drive. French was seen leaving one of the apartments around 45 minutes into the surveillance. As he walked to his vehicle, he was taken into custody. A safety sweep of the apartment he came from was done and Ammiyah was located inside the rear bedroom closet in a car seat.

Riverside Child Protective Services took custody of the unharmed infant and are working on arrangements to get her back to her mother. French was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for outstanding warrants. He is being held without bail and will be extradited back to Kentucky.

The resources and partnerships utilized today led to Mr. French’s arrest and the eventual reunion of baby and mother. Anyone with information regarding this investigation should contact the Lexington Police Department at (859) 258-3600.
