SAN BERNARDINO – A faint meow coming from a vehicle, led to the rescue of tiny kitten from an engine compartment in San Bernardino Thursday. At around 1:30 p.m. a San Bernardino resident arrived at the San Bernardino Fire Department Household Hazardous Waste Material Reuse Store at 2824 E. W Street. When the vehicle was parked, Juan Gloria, a Fire Technician heard the sound and alerted staff.
The staff at the San Bernardino County Fire Department Facilities Maintenance and Household Hazardous Waste helped to determine that it was a kitten trapped in the engine compartment. Jeff Pollack, a Maintenance Specialist disassembled the air filter and window washer fluid tank allowing Randy Miller, Equipment Technician II and John Singleton, Fire Equipment Technician to safely remove the kitten.
The kitten was not injured and was returned to the resident, who will be placing the kitten in a new adoptive home. The resident believes that the kitten went in during the night when the vehicle hood was left open.
