LANCASTER – A 25-year-old Lancaster man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a hit-and-run traffic collision that killed and 11-year-old girl.
The crash occurred at around midnight on July 18th, when Eduardo Medrano Jr. drove through a red light on 20th Street East and collided with a vehicle. The force of the collision caused the child, named Emily to be ejected from the vehicle. Medrano fled the scene and his girlfriend, Alicia Torres, 23, when contacted by authorities lied, telling them she did not know where he was.
Medrano pleaded no contest to one count of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated on September 6th and was sentenced on Wednesday, October 18th. Torres also pleaded no contest to one count of accessory after the fact and was sentenced on Wednesday to three years of summary probation.
