LANCASTER, Ca. – The assault that took the life of a 13-year-old girl led to an arrest warrant for Eddie Alvirez, 18, of Lancaster.

Deputies responded to a home in the 1700 block of West Avenue J15 at around 5:45 p.m., on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, for the report of a shooting. It was reported that Alvirez had shot his sister inside a bedroom in the home. After shooting the juvenile victim, Alvirez fled the location. The 13-year-old girl was transported to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries a short time later.

On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at around 2:00 p.m., Alvirez turned himself into authorities. It is unknown if the shooting was an accident at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

Anyone with information about the slaying is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Anonymous tips can be directed to (800) 222-8477.
