HESPERIA, Calif. – A 27-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada man lost his life today in a vehicle versus pedestrian crash,
On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, just before 2:00 a.m. the collision was reported to Sheriff’s dispatch. Hesperia Station deputies responded to the area of Bear Valley Road east of Third Avenue in the City of Hesperia. A witness said that the man was crossing Bear Valley Road when he was struck by a 2013 Ford Fiesta in the eastbound #2 lane. The driver of the Ford was a 65-year-old Hesperia woman. After being struck by the Fiesta, the victim was hit by black sedan, possibly a Honda then by a white 4-door Honda Civic.
The Ford remained at the scene, while the black sedan and white Honda Civic fled the scene of the collision with the downed victim. Deputies and emergency medical personnel arrived to the location just moments following the report.They located the lifeless body of the pedestrian. Medics pronounced him deceased at the scene. His exact cause of death will be determined by the coroner.
Investigators with the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating the collision. At this point, the investigation is ongoing. MAIT investigators are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the black sedan and the white Honda Civic and its drivers. Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or might have additional information pertinent to the case is encouraged to contact the Hesperia Police Department.
