BAKER – A 68-year-old Las Vegas, Nevada woman lost her life as a result of a traffic collision early Friday morning. Just before 4:15 a.m. the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was dispatched to the traffic collision on the I-15 south near Afton Road in Baker.
Upon arrival, the officer located a 2009 Chevy Malibu that for unknown reasons veered off the roadway and into southbound lanes. CHP officials said that a minivan that was traveling on the I-15 south did not see the Chevy in lanes of traffic and broadsided the vehicle.
The driver of the Chevy Malibu, later identified as Rae Jean Christakos was pronounced dead at the scene just before 4:45 a.m. the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
