LOMA LINDA – A 28-year-old man was arrested for assaulting and stealing food belonging to his elderly grandmother.
On Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at around 6:18 p.m. authorities were dispatched to Redlands Boulevard in Loma Linda. The report indicated that Chaz Jones had assaulted his grandmother. It was reported that Jones had broke into the home through a bathroom window.
The elderly woman attempted to call 911, but Jones assaulted her causing visible injuries. Deputies arrived and Jones ran out of the home in order to escape arrest. He attempted to hide, but deputies quickly located him. He fled on foot through empty fields. Jones was located hiding near a local business and was arrested without further incident.
Through investigation deputies learned that Jones also stole the victim’s food, leaving her with very little to eat. He was booked into jail for elder abuse and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
