HESPERIA – A male subject lost his life after being struck by a train early Saturday morning. At around 7:35 a.m. deputies from the Hesperia Station and emergency medical personnel responded to Hesperia Road near Muscatel Street for the report of the male subject who was hit by the train.
Deputies arrived and had a difficult time immediately locating the victim who the train conductor said was wearing an orange shirt and could have been anywhere within a mile south of Muscatel. San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Deputy Adam Cervantes said that the unresponsive victim was eventually located around 40 feet from the tracks. San Bernardino County Fire Paramedics pronounced the male subject dead.
Through investigation, it was learned that the male subject was wearing headphones while walking north along the railroad tracks and did not hear the approaching cargo train.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s coroners took possession of the body and will work to determine the identity of the deceased male. Anyone with information that may help with the identification process or investigation should call 760-947-1500.
