YUCAIPA, Calif. – A man and woman were arrested after allegedly stealing keys from a U-Haul business and returning later to steal a truck.
On Monday, March 18, 2019, Angela Lombardo, 43, and Joshua Fortner, 28, both transients, entered the U-Haul business in the 34000 block of Yucaipa Boulevard in Yucaipa. The two talked to the owner about renting a vehicle. The owner became distracted and the suspects grabbed keys and left the location. The business owner did not notice that the keys were gone. The suspects returned to the business, and using the keys, they stole a U-Haul truck.
On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, Lombardo and Fortner were located in the City of Redlands by police while in the stolen vehicle. Both were arrested without incident and the stolen vehicle was returned to the owner. Lombardo and Fortner were booked at Central Detention Center on vehicle theft charges and are being held on $50,000 bail.
