VICTORVILLE – A attempted robbery suspect turned dangerous after a failed attempt in the Victor Valley mall parking lot on Saturday evening.
At around 7:33 p.m. a man and his girlfriend were walking in the mall parking lot located at14400 Bear Valley Road in the City of Victorville, when a man attempted to pull a purse off of the woman’s shoulder. When the woman’s boyfriend turned toward him, he ran from the scene. Just moments later at around 7:36 p.m. an elderly woman was in the parking lot in the area between the Dick’s Sporting Good Store and the Red Lobster, per scanner traffic. A male suspect, described as being Hispanic or White, wearing a blue or black sweater and a beanie robbed the woman then hit her with his vehicle as he fled the scene. Authorities after conducting interviews believed that the two incidents were, in fact, related.
If it was not for the help of a vigilant citizen and mall surveillance, the suspect would have got away but both captured not only the suspect vehicle description but a license plate number. As the woman remained on the ground bleeding, deputies arrived at the scene quickly followed by emergency medical personnel. The woman suffered abrasions and was treated at the scene prior to being transported to a local hospital.
The white sedan with a black top, sunroof, and tinted windows was located in the area of Bear Valley and 11th Avenue. A felony traffic stop was conducted and the vehicle was matched to the suspect vehicle information. The suspect was positively identified and was booked into the High Desert Detention Center. Information regarding his name, age, and his city of residence is unavailable at this time.
A 24/7 Headline news reporter requested information from sheriff’s officials, but information is yet to be received. Information provided is taken only from witness statement information and scanner traffic and will be updated with official information when available.
