ADELANTO – A Victor Valley Transit bus and its occupants were the target of an irate Los Angeles man on Thursday afternoon. At around noon the bus broke down on US HWY 395 near Cross Roads when Robert Sutton, 57, approached the bus and began yelling at the occupants and a responding mechanic. He entered the bus and began threatening the passengers. The female bus driver in an attempt to provide safety for herself and her passengers grabbed a tire thumper and ordered Sutton to leave the passengers alone and to exit the bus.
He became increasingly upset and grabbed the tire thumper from the bus driver. The bus driver sustained minor injuries to her hand and arm as a result. Sutton ordered the passengers off of the bus, exited and chased the mechanic down the street with the tire thumper. Sutton was taken into custody and booked into the High Desert Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The bus driver was treated at the scene for her injuries. No other injuries were reported as a result of the incident. Anyone with information regarding this crime is urged to contact Deputy Sean Byrne at Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station, (760) 552-6800.
