CORONA – A man in possession of a gun and drugs was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday night authorities said. At around 11:10 p.m. a Corona Police officer was conducting a traffic stop near Second Street near the 91 freeway when he noticed a man yelling across the street.
No knowing what the man, later identified as David Roundtree needed, the officer cleared his traffic stop to check. Before reaching the Roundtree, he stepped out into the road into traffic and was struck by a vehicle. Roundtree landed on the ground and the officer approached to render aid. As he approached Roundtree, he noticed a handgun in his pants pocket. The officer removed the gun and detained Roundtree without incident.
Roundtree was found to be a convicted felon and was found to be in possession of the unregistered .380 semi-automatic handgun and .8 grams of methamphetamine. Roundtree was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and was later booked into jail.
