ADELANTO, Ca. – A man who killed an Adelanto mother and badly injured her son and husband while driving under the influence last year was rearrested for DUI on Thursday.
Ysidro Pinon, 22, of Adelanto, was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol on Thursday morning, authorities said. Pinon was out on bail for the intoxicated killing of April Lyon, 41, of Adelanto in a traffic collision just before 6:00 p.m. on September 18, 2021, near Adelanto Road and Air Expressway in Adelanto. Pinon was charged with vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the combined influence of alcohol/drugs causing injury for the fatal 2021 traffic collision. He was released after posting $250,000 bail.
At around 2:03 a.m. on Thursday, a deputy witnessed the vehicle being driven by Pinon swerve into the center lane while heading southbound on US Hwy 395 near Rancho Road in the City of Adelanto. Pinon was the only person in the vehicle and the deputy suspected that he was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs. He failed a field sobriety test and would not consent to additional testing. The deputy was able to obtain a search warrant in order to force Pinon to take a blood test.
Pinon was subsequently taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol and narcotics and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. According to inmate records, Pinion was released hours later at around 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022.
