RANCHO CUCAMONGA – A San Bernardino man was arrested after attempting to cash a nearly $8500 check at the Wells Fargo Bank in Rancho Cucamonga on Thursday morning.
At around 9:56 a.m., the suspect, later identified as Lance Devon Barber, 25, walked in the bank located in the 10500 block of Foothill Boulevard and produced a check in the amount $8493 to the teller. According to witnesses, Barber became agitated and yelled at the bank employee as they attempted to verify the check. Before the deputies arrived, Barber fled the location and attempted to get into a getaway vehicle, but ended up running into the nearby Target store.
A perimeter was set up at the Target store as deputies entered to search for Barber. Barber was located and taken into custody wearing clothing he used from the store to disguise himself, attempting to avoid arrest. Barber was booked into the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of $35,000. Barber was also learned to have additional warrants for unrelated Vehicle and Petty Thefts.
