CERES – A 46-year-old man was arrested for stealing a puppy to gift it to his estranged girlfriend who had a domestic violence restraining order against him.
On Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at around 10:00 a.m. the Ceres Police Department received a report from a San Jose Police Department detective indicating that a Husky puppy was stolen from their city. Mohammad Nayl was named as the suspect in the theft. According to authorities, Nayl gave the puppy to his estranged girlfriend after stealing it. The detective provided an address where the estranged girlfriend lives and vehicle description for Nayl.
When the officer arrived at the home, Nayl’s vehicle was located in the area of the home, which the restraining order barred him from the residence. Nayl was located in the backyard of the home and was arrested for violating the restraining order and possession of stolen property. The puppy was recovered from the girlfriend, who was not aware or involved with the theft of the puppy. The owner of the puppy was reunited with his puppy at the Ceres Police Department.
