ADELANTO – A young Adelanto mother of two is left to pick up the pieces after her 24-year-old husband died after being crushed by a vehicle that he was working on.
Lee Espinosa was young but took his role as a husband, father, and friend very seriously. “My husband was a wonderful partner and a loving father who touched a lot of people’s lives for as long as i had known him,” said his wife Monique Espinosa on the Go Fund Me page. “From [offering] his helpful advice, to giving rides for his co workers who needed it, to helping fix things such as cars, plumbing, electrical, anything really, and giving money or buying food for the homeless when he was able to.”
Lee and Monique were married on June 19, 2015, after being together for around three years. The young couple had two children, Dean who is 20 months old and Amea who is now nearly one month old. It was a regular day on Monday, July 17, 2017, when Lee agreed to work on a vehicle to earn extra money when the car jack slipped at around 12:20 p.m., causing the vehicle to fall on him. Monique was at their apartment home located at 11210 Auburn Avenue in the City of Adelanto, where Lee was working at the time. People ran to her door to tell her that the vehicle fell on top of her husband and she ran out to find the vehicle on top of him.
Deputies and medics quickly arrived, removed Lee from under the vehicle, and began CPR. Lee, unfortunately, was unable to be resuscitated and died as a result of his injuries. The death itself is a devastation to Monique and their family, but now the three left behind have also lost their sole provider. Lee worked at McDonald’s on Highway 395 and Palmdale Road to support his family along with taking on small odd jobs in an attempt to provide the best life possible for his wife and two small children. “He always put his family first. Our kids, my siblings, and my family adored him even with some of the faults he had,” said Monique. “We are all heartbroken from this tragic incident.”
Lee had no siblings, his father died several years ago and his mother remains living. Monique is now left to raise the two children, whom they had planned to raise together alone. She is now left to while watching a newborn and a toddler, plan to cremate her young husband. The financial burden of keeping a roof over their heads, utilities on, food on the table, and now the cost of a cremation is all left in the hands of the young mother.
Monique is reaching out to the community for help to cremate her husband and to help raise funds for other immediate needs that may arise while she figures out how to now be the sole caretaker and provider to their children.
