A Fort, Mohave, Arizona man died as a result of a traffic collision on the I-40 freeway on Sunday night.
At around 9:00 p.m. the California Highway Patrol, CHP responded to a traffic collision on the westbound I-40 near milepost marker 40 SBD 70.5, in unincorporated San Bernardino County. Through investigation, it was revealed that the 58-year-old driver of a 1988 Toyota pickup trick was driving westbound on the 1-40. The rate of speed that the male driver was driving is unknown but for reasons that remain under investigation, he allowed the vehicle to veer right and off of the freeway. The Toyota traveled up a dirt embankment and subsequently overturned. As it overturned, the unrestrained driver was tossed from the vehicle.
When medical personnel arrived they pronounced the driver deceased. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. The collision remains under investigation by the Barstow area Highway Patrol.
