THOUSAND PALMS – A 41-year-old Compton man was killed after a traffic collision on Friday morning. The traffic collision occurred on the I-10 east of Bob Hope Drive CHP officials said. Through investigation officers learned that Dawn Fleck, 56, of Palm Desert was driving a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastbound on the 10 freeway. Robert Prudholme was riding a motorcycle also eastbound on the 10 freeway, when for reasons that remain under investigation he slowed down or stopped in the lane next to the slow lane.
The Chrysler slammed into the back of the Harley Davidson, and Prudholme was ejected from his motorcycle and struck by the Chrysler. Fleck, the driver of the Chrysler fled the scene, but with the help of witness information, she was located around 20 minutes later. Prudholme was transported to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries. Fleck sustained minor injuries and was arrested for murder, vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs, felony hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license.
