VICTORVILLE – A man suffering from a gunshot wound was dropped off in the front of Desert Valley Hospital on Tuesday. When he arrived just after 12:00 a.m., the hospital staff made deputies aware of the assumed victim’s arrival. The reporting party told authorities that the man arrived at the hospital in a silver pickup truck, possibly a Nissan that left immediately after he was dropped off.
The injured man explained to hospital staff that he was injured after being shot in a field near a Liquor Store in the area of Hook Boulevard and El Evado Road. He described the suspect as Black man who was wearing a white shirt and blue jeans. Authorities combed the area looking for witnesses that either saw or heard the shots fired, but came up with no leads.
It was determined that the incident did not take place at the reported at the location but at the injured man’s Hesperia home. “After the investigation, it was determined that the victim shot himself in an accidental firearm discharged,” said Hesperis Sheriff’s Station spokeswoman Jaclyn Chambers. The male subject sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the hand.
