VICTORVILLE, Calif. – Nearby businesses were evacuated when a male subject reportedly had a gun while sitting in his vehicle at a Victorville Auto body shop on Wednesday.
Dispatchers received the report at around 2:39 p.m. of the active incident in the Auto Body shop in the 15000 block of 7th Street in the City of Victorville. ” It has been reported that he threatened the employees but it is unknown what this all stemmed from,” said Victorville Sheriff’s Department Spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. The suspect, as of 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday is in a black or Navy blue SUV.
The road is blocked in both directions on 7th Street as deputies are in the street with guns drawn. The call is active and no further information is available at this time. Information will be updated as it becomes available.
UPDATE: (July 17, 2019 4:11 p.m.) The suspect attempted to flee in his vehicle and the suspect vehicle was shot at by deputies. A deputy was injured as a result of the incident, his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. He was transported by air ambulance to the hospital.
SWAT team members are calling the suspect’s name (Anthony Brown) telling him to surrender or they will be unable to provide aid to him.
The suspect collided with the curb across the street from the incident location. It appears as though deputies are talking with the suspect. There is no additional information about his condition at this time.
UPDATE: (July 17, 2019 6:00 p.m.) The suspect is in custody and was transported to the hospital with injuries.
UPDATE: (July 17, 2019, 10:45 p.m.) The deputy has been treated and released from Loma Linda University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery. Investigation is ongoing.
