Mentally Ill Hesperia Mother Arrested for Child Abuse After Hitting Her Kids

HESPERIA, Calif. – A Hesperia woman was arrested for child abuse after her friend reported the assaults of her 7 and 9-year-old daughters.

On Saturday, April 6, 2019, at around 6:18 p.m., dispatchers received a call reporting an assault in the 17000 block of Sycamore Street. When the deputy arrived he learned that Yecenia Hernandez, 37, of Hesperia, who refuses to take medication for her schizophrenia was yelling at her 7-year-old daughter. She then grabbed a pair of jeans, swinging them toward her to strike her. She then slapped her 9-year-old daughter’s legs. The 7-year-old had redness to her harm as a result of being hit.

Hernandez was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for Child Abuse and later released. The case information was  forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney for review.
