BAKER – A 39-year-old Los Angeles man lost his life while on the 15 freeway just south of Baker on Monday morning.
At around 9:06 a.m. the California Highway Patrol (CHP) was dispatched to a traffic collision on the I-15 near mile marker 133. Sheriff’s officials said that a 2015 Dodge Journey struck a 2007 GMC Yukon causing it to lose control and overturn. The front passenger, who was identified as Ray Mendez of the Yukon was partially ejected from the vehicle. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and pronounced Mendez dead at the scene.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Barstow-area CHP.
